Merry Christmas! See VOD and Spread the Word!

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

If you love Christmas you will be blessed to find many great titles to enjoy in the VOD section just for Christmas! There are some cool short comedy songs/skits from Tim Hawkins. They’re free and funny! Well worth watching over and over again. More than videos though I pray that we all spend some serious time reflecting on the incredible gift Christ is to us and the world! In this season we as Christians have a greater freedom to share our faith with others. Now the world is never glad to hear about Christ, yet during Christmas they have come to expect it! Go out and sing some Gospel rich Christmas Carols! Hand out tracts! Spread the Gospel! Let us as believers in Christ set our hearts and minds on making Him the centerpiece of our Christmas and of those around us. God bless you as you celebrate the coming of our savior this season!

“The Kid” on GMC

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Disney’s “The Kid” holds a special place in my heart.  I remember watching this  movie in the theater over nine years ago fighting back the tears. One thing you don’t mess with is a young man’s dream! I love how this movie showed what a man had settled for, and how he could not take back the time he had lost, but there was still a great hope for a bright future if he had only the desire to change.  Especially this Christmas season, I find myself more giving with the money God has entrusted me with.  I now have a stronger desire to change my selfish self-centered ways and be more like Christ.  If I was a young man again I would say to myself, “Give like Christ gave” because I now know that is the true secret to happiness in life.  Guys…give, give, give, this Christmas season, follow Christ, and look forward to a blessed future!  Merry Christmas all!

The Angel of Pennsylvania Avenue

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

If you have not seen this movie, it is a classic based on a true story. Beatrice Feagan told of her adventures when her father was sent to jail for another’s crime. This story takes one on a journey to find President Hoover at the White House. You will have to watch the movie to see if they get there.

The story is one of selflessness and courage of family members during the depression. It is a good family picture. The movie has scenes that are perhaps too intense for the very young. If you like the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” I believe you may also like this movie.

More on Pilgrim’s Progress

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

I have been watching Pilgrim’s Progress, and it is great! I am blogging on a night when I can’t seem to get to sleep. (Could it be all the Thanksgiving dinner we had today?)

If you missed the programs, the 48 hour re-run time is still in range. This is one of the best mini-series I have ever seen. There are 14 programs. You will find it under Word Pictures on Channel 126, NRBnet. It began on Thanksgiving night.

It is late, so this is short, but I just had to share about it. The programs are like mini-retreats and caused me to think about my own journey.

1970 Baltimore Colts

Friday, November 26th, 2010

I just saw a really great program on NFL Network — the 1970 Baltimore Colts.  They were the winners of Super Bowl 5.

The program told of their journey from Super Bowl 3, when they were in the NFL, and when they got beat by the AFL New York Jets (whose quarterback Joe Namath had guaranteed a victory); to their move to the AFC; to their regrouping and winning Superbowl 5.

The strangest thing is that the players interviewed weren’t proud of their Superbowl 5 victory rings, because they felt like they hadn’t done their best in Superbowl 5, and therefore hadn’t deserved to win the game.

NFL Network is one of my favorite channels on Sky Angel, because of these kinds of documentaries.  I can’t wait to see the one tonight about Tom Landry!

Have you tried Sky Angel Web TV yet?

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

As a busy work-at-home mom who spends lots of time online, I am super excited about the new Sky Angel Web TV. It’s just like the Sky Angel home service, but the only difference is that it’s completely based online. This is absolutely amazing because not only does it make Sky Angel accessible to almost anyone anywhere, but the convenience of having a variety of faith programs available on my laptop make my work day much more enriching.

The way Sky Angel Web TV works is that once you sign up for the service, you simply visit the website, SkyAngelWebTV.com, log in and you’re instantly connected to the TV channels, the radio channels, and the On Demand service. There is even the option to share and have real-time chats with others while watching a movie or experiencing any WebTV programming.

Sky Angel Web TV is described as “a Christian-owned multi-channel provider of faith-based and family-friendly television and radio programming.” It is definitely that and more. I have logged on and used the service every day since I got it. I usually let the programs play in one window as I work online in another window. It’s really adds a positive and uplifting dimension to my day while I work. Watching the programs and hearing the music while I’m online support my desire to consistently nourish my mind and my soul. I also love how I seem to have “more time” in the day to watch Sky Angel online.

If you haven’t already noticed, an increasing number of people are spending more time online engaging in social media. Today’s moms are especially busy with socializing, engaging, and networking online, and having a product available such as Sky Angel Web TV perfectly meets the demands of the busy person’s lifestyle. A few ways I believe Sky Angel Web TV is making a difference are:

• It delivers its service according to the needs of the consumer
• It provides another option for those interested in wholesome alternative programming
• It is affordable and simple to use
• It is accessible anywhere there is an internet connection
• It provides ultimate convenience with 48-hour playback and Video On Demand (VOD)

One of the other powerful things about WebTV is its international reach. Imagine the possibilities when going on missions or using it as a tool in massive outreach efforts. For worldwide evangelizing, WebTV further helps to unify the body of Christ. The launch of WebTV also helps to fulfill Mr. Johnson’s original vision and mission:

“To provide a global communications platform as an instrument of unity to equip the Body of Christ to fulfill the Great Commission.

To build and operate a global communications system as the most effective means of assuring that the Gospel will penetrate every nation, culture and people.”

As I’ve said more than once, I believe every home should have Sky Angel television, but now I’ll take it one step further and say that every computer should have Sky Angel Web TV service. In some cases, it may be an even easier option because with a laptop, Sky Angel Web TV is portable and can be utilized virtually anywhere, including hospitals, dorm rooms, and while traveling.

I can’t say enough good things about this service. If you haven’t checked it out, I highly encourage you to do so. Visit www.skyangel.com/webtv to learn more.

P. S. Have you started Christmas shopping yet? Sky Angel Web TV service would be the perfect gift for any family. Not only is it easy to use, it’s even easier to give.

A Couple Hours of Powerful, Quality, Evidence for Christ!

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Head over to JCTV at 2200 on 11/21/10 and sit back and enjoy two great films giving excellent evidence and entertainment regarding Jesus Christ! Now don’t worry because it Says “Laugh with the Skit Guys”. That is just mislabeling(Which sadly sometimes happens with some of SKyAngel’s service providers.) This will start you off on Lee Strobel’s documentary based on his best selling book “The Case for Christ”. This is a very well made documentary giving much evidence for Jesus Christ. I don’t agree with Lee on everything or even like all his guests theology. However, in this film everything seems very solid. It is part documentary and autobiography. Following directly after TCFC is “The Perfect Stranger”. This actually starts in the TCFC time slot. I have this movie on DVD as well as the sequel. I have enjoyed every “Stranger” film and there are many. This is a film where a skeptic lawyer is invited to dinner with Jesus. She asks many ?’s skeptics ask and the actor playing Jesus seems quite Christlike in his answering. This film is both entertaining and informative. I think you’ll enjoy it. If you want to get some evidence for yourself without breaking out the books this would be a good block of tv to sit back and enjoy. Prayerfully consider sharing these films w/your non believer friends. Share the scripture with them and encourage them to turn from sin to Christ. While we must always trust in God to do the saving these films may be used by Him in concert with your testimnoy and sharing in the Bible to plant and water seeds of the Gospel that He may bring to fruition in His time. God bless and enjoy!

Story Teller Cafe on NRB

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Watched another episode today of the StoryTeller Cafe on NRB. This may show up on other networks as well. I’m not sure if I reviewed this show before but it is worth repeating especially considering that Toy Story 3 just came out on DVD. Produced by CBN, Story Teller Cafe is very much a knock off of Toy Story. Obviously not Pixar Quality but decent 3d animation that most kids who like Toy Story will like here as well. Parents wil especially like that the stories told here are straight out of the Bible. Now they trim a little here and there but it gets the main biblcial points to the age group it aims at. The episdode I watched aired at 0600 on the I think the 13th? I believe it’s on every week if not multiple times. Like I said earlier it probably comes on other places too. It is a good one for young kids who like Toy Story and other cartoons. My 2 and 4 yr olds like it. Give it a look for kids and grandkids alike! God bless!

In the Footsteps of Jesus

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

I just saw on Daystar that there will be a special on this coming Wednesday, the 24th.  It is called, “In the Footsteps of Jesus.”  It is a tour of the Holy Land with the Daystar Singers.  The times are 11am, 8pm, and mid (midnight?) all CST.  I plan to watch it.

At the  moment I am watching Cross Examine on Daystar.  You can find the program on many channels.   Today’s episode, “Whose Children,” is about the social systems of family and state.  When they are run as God intended, all is well.  However, what happens when the social systems of family and state collide?

German laws are repressive regarding the education of children.  Parents have been sent to prison, and children to foster homes for the ‘crime’ of home-schooling.   The German Supreme Court upheld the state’s treatment of home-school parents.  The reason given was that the state had an interest in stamping out parallel societies.   The German state wants the children socialized in a particular way.  Parents are not to raise their children in the way they see fit.

One example of this collision is the German family whose children were home-schooled.  The children were taken to school by force.  Neighbors complained, so the state used other strategies.   After fervent prayer in 2008, the Romeika family left relatives and friends behind to seek asylum in United States.

Cross Examine has interviewed them.  Their story is very interesting.  A judge granted them asylum in the USA, but now the Federal Government is appealing that asylum.  They await the decision of a federal judge.  They are asking us to pray about it.  We need to pray because that is not a good picture of things to come here in the United States.

The question is, “Who has the responsibility for our children?”  The United States began to usurp parental authority for the education of our children early in the 20th century.  The home school is in agreement with God’s social design.  Not everyone is able to home-school.  We can delegate the authority to others to teach our children.  It is important those who are the teachers know that they are accountable to the parents, not the state.  When a government recognizes the authority of parents over the care and education of their children.  Parents must be the final authority for what their children are taught to believe.  I realize that there are some parents who abdicate their authority by abuse and neglect.

What if our government appeal is successful against the Romeika case?  That would set a dangerous precedent with serious ramifications for our future.  Our children are the future of the nation.  Progressive thinkers want to control children in order to shape society their way.  The government can’t control home-schools, except by setting standards for what they must be taught.

Coerced uniformity is a dangerous threat.  Not only people of faith have a concern about public schools.  The academic results often leave much to desire.  That is not true where we live.  The children are well-taught in our city.  The other concern that many parents have is the threat of violence in school settings.

These are principles I gleaned from watching the program.  If you are interested, please find and watch an episode of the show.  You can find back episodes on their website: crossexamine.tv.  In order to do so  they request you sign up as a Cross Examine insider.  There is no cost for the service.

Pilgrim’s Progress

Saturday, November 20th, 2010
I wrote this once and somehow it got lost, so if it gets on twice, please forgive.
I saw Pilgrim’s Progress Mini-Series advertised on the NRB channel (126) and looked up the dates and times. As there are many, it seemed best just to past the information from the NRB web page. I plan to watch as much as possible and hope others also enjoy the series. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
Pilgrim’s Progress Mini-Series

NRB Network invites viewers to tune in Thanksgiving weekend for Pilgrim’s Progress—a mini-series based on the beloved spiritual allegory and produced by CrossTV. The first two installments of the 14-part docudrama will air on Thursday, Nov. 25 at 8 pm ET. Parts three and four will be broadcast on Friday, Nov. 26 at 8 pm ET with the remaining installments showing on Saturday, Nov. 27 from noon until 10 pm ET.

First published in 1678, Pilgrim’s Progress has achieved global-acclaim with translations in more languages than any other book in history other than the Bible. Written by Puritan author John Bunyan during his imprisonment for conducting religious services not sanctioned by the Church of England, it is the story of Christian—a husband and father who leaves his family and doomed city to begin a journey toward the Celestial City. Accompanied by messengers and fellow pilgrims, Christian faces many obstacles along the way.

CrossTV and host Mark Kielar bring the iconic book to life in this docudrama of the same name shot on location in Plymouth, Massachusetts. CrossTV, an international television ministry founded in 1994 by Kielar, produces programs that emphasize doctrinally-sound expositional teaching and preaching of God’s Word including the popular Word Pictures series which also airs on NRB Network.

“We are excited to bring Pilgrim’s Progress to our viewers. It’s a classic story and we hope families will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a break from the holiday rush with this high-quality production,” said Troy A. Miller, President and COO of NRB Network.

I am adding this on Thanksgiving Day:

The Pilgrim’s Progress mini-series airs Thursday, Nov. 25 through Saturday, Nov. 27 on NRB Network. For a complete listing of air times, visit www.nrbnetwork.tv/schedules. To learn more about CrossTV, visit www.crosstv.com.

I am adding this on Thanksgiving Day:

I have looked and looked and could not find Pilgrim’s Progress. It is airing tonight–Thanksgiving–on a program called Word Pictures. It airs at 7:00pm CST. (I think it is CST because that is the time My Tivo lists.  I am sorry that it took me so long to find out the times.  I know that the mini-series continues on Saturday morning.
