New Girl Scouts Research Exposes the Impact of Reality TV on Girls
A recently released study shows that tween and teen girls who regularly view reality TV accept expect a higher level of drama, aggression, and bullying in their own lives, and measure their worth primarily by their physical appearance. This is according to Real to Me: Girls and Reality TV, a national survey by the Girl Scout Research Institute.
The study revealed both the downside and upside to reality TV viewing, and encourages parents to know more about the programs their children watch.

Do you like westerns? Do you like comedy? Do you like romance? Do you like family friendly? If that is a yes to any or all of those you are going to love “Gunless”! I don’t know how much was edited but it seems like there was only a couple bleeped words in the film. There was no sex, and the violence was there but minimal. I mean it is a western right? Our story finds the Montana Kid riding into town half dead on his horse. He collapses off it and goes to seek ammo. When he returns after an interesting store visit he finds his horse at the local blacksmith where the blacksmith is working on him. The Montana Kid sees this as worth killing the blacksmith over but the blacksmith just blows him off. Its a hilarious scene! The Montana Kid demands a gunfight but there’s a small problem. Nobody in town has a gun! Except a pretty and gutsy lady who happens to need help building her windmill. She’ll trade the broken handgun she has for the Montana Kid’s labor. He’ll build the windmill, fix the gun, and get his gunfight. Thus the story begins. I can’t relay just how funny this movie is. The Montana Kid is tough and rugged, the Candian townsfolk here are friendly and the local Mounty is as Dudley Do Right as it gets. The brothers that share the tavern/store and argue over customers are great as well as the rest of the diverse townfolk. There are gut busting laughs and awesome gun action as well as touching moments. I have to rate this as one of my favorite westerns ever and definitely one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while! Give it a look you won’t be dissapointed!

Martin Landau and Ellyn Burstyn star in this well made drama. Landau stars as Robert who falls in love with Burstyn as Mary, for as far as we can tell, the first time in his life. The romantic relationship is fun to see it build and grow. However, there is something brewing in the background. A great twist I don’t even want to hint at. Well acted throughout with some truly funny moments as well as some truly touching scenes as well. A couple uses of the Lord’s name as a vain exclamation that mar the film in a regrettable way. Sad to see Him neglected even by those raised in a generation that honored Him more regularly than the one in which I grew up. I can’t say the movie has a happy ending. However, it isn’t horrible either. It is set around Christmas time and as such is found both in the Christmas section of VOD as well as the recently added area. Overall a good if not great drama with a twist to make it interesting. In the end for Christians we should all realize that the only perfect love is one we can only receive. That of the love of God through Christ! Live this new year basking in that love!

“All is Bright” is a movie in the Christmas Video on Demand. It is $1.99 and lasts about an hour. “Love’s Pure Light” and “Christmas at Cadillac Jack’s” are sequels to the original drama. They are a tradition for me. I try to watch them during the holidays. “All is Bright” is about a father trying to get home on leave from the military in time for Christmas. “Love’s Pure Light” has the same characters and is a touching story about a widower dealing with his loss at Christmas-time. “Christmas at Cadillac Jack’s” is a story about a road trip with an unexpected twist. It is a heart-warming story that brings tears to my eyes every time. The two sequels are free and worth the time to watch.
Merry Christmas!

My wife and I watched the new film “Dialtone” on VOD the other night and I thought it was pretty well done. It has a twist ending to it and some real suspense. The story revolves around a nominal Christian who recently lost his wife in a car accident. He is soon introduced to a phone that can call two days into the past. He gets a police list with names of people every day who have died in the last 48hrs. His wife died less than two days ago. What will he do? The movie is about sharing your faith. It is influenced by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron’s “Way of the Master” witnesing style. It is only 42 minutes long so won’t keep you there forever. I reccomend it for it’s quality and conviction. We all need to get out there and share our faith. I can’t reccomend too highly Ray and Kirk’s system. Only because it is truly a Biblical system. Check it out at www.livingwaters.com

You can now find the movie Dr. Lucille in the VOD section under Just Added. This movie is a powerful and moving drama that tells the true story of a women surgeon in Africa. Initially Lucille is a reluctant young surgeon who moves to Uganda temporarily to be a surgeon at a Catholic hospital. Through many dramatic and heartwarming situations she ends up marrying a devote Catholic man(Piero Corti) and staying in Uganda. Together they raise a daughter, and help thousands of Africans through countless wars, and conflicts. This film depicts a realistic and brutal Uganda. Amazingly Lucille and her husband survive a multitude of dangerous situations never giving up on the people they have grown to love. Piero Corti is always attributing their protection to God, but unfortunately Lucille seemed to always be reluctant about God. This film is rated PG, and not for younger children. For everyone else this film is a fascinating look into Africa’s past.

If you’re looking for a funny lighthearted movie then don’t watch this one. The picture looks funny and the movie does have some funny moments but is far more a drama than comedy. Modine plays an eccentric artist/architect who never shows his paintings and who is divorced. For positives he does love his daughter and sticks to his principles(though they are definitely not very Christian principles.). His neighbor Laroque is a new comer to me at least, who plays the owner of the building as well as his neighbor. I’m really hard pressed to write much of a review because I really don’t think it’s worth writing much on. Like I said it has its funny parts and even some touching feel good moments. However, I’m not gonna watch it again and you won’t be missing much if you choose to skip it. SO I guess this review is just to save you some wasted time. Go read the Bible instead. I should have! Take care!

I really like SkyAngel’s VOD line-up. It continues to get better and better. One of the movies currently available is “Time Changer”:
In “Time Changer” Professor Carlisle at Grace Bible Seminary has just completed a manuscript, “The Changing Times”. He is vehemently confronted by a colleague, Dr. Anderson, who believes that this new manuscript could seriously alter the future for the worse. Having done all he could, to no avail, to convince the professor of the gravity of the situation, Dr. Anderson uses his secret time machine to transport Professor Carlisle a hundred years into the future to see for himself.
“Time Changer” explores the difference between our cultures then and now, and the travesty of morality taught separate from a relationship with Jesus Christ. Relevant, thought provoking, and as usual with SkyAngel: spiritually uplifting. A must see for older kids on up!
