The Little Princess

The Little Princess, starring Shirley Temple, is one of my favorite family movies of all time!

Shirley Temple plays the part of Sarah Crew.  Her father is Captain Crew.

Sarah and her father have spent the better part of her life in India, in the British Army.  Her father is sent to England, and he immediately checks Sarah into an all-girls school, run by the mean Miss Minchen, because he is about to be sent to Africa.

Sarah charms everyone at the school, except a couple of mean girls and Miss Minchen.

Word comes through that her father was killed in Africa.  Her fortunes change immediately, when Miss Minchen makes her work for her keep.

I don’t want to give the whole story away, but I will say that it all works out ok in the end for Sarah.

This is a great movie for the whole family to watch.  You can find it under Video on Demand / Movies / Family.

The Classics are back! - VOD

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, James Cagney, Shirley Temple! The list goes on. From “The Little Princess” to “Dick Tracy” and so much inbetween the classics are back in force on Sky Angel VOD! I have to admit I was a little bummed when that section disappeared on VOD some time ago. Well now many of the greats are back. If you’re younger like I am, and think maybe you wouldn’t like old classics, then let me encourage you to give them a look. My wife introdiced me to the joy of classic films years ago and there are some great ones! For the most part they are family friendly and the plot lines are well wrtten and well acted. Actors had to rely on talent and learned skills without the benefit of green screens! So as you cruise through the VOD sections give a classic a shot. If you’ve never seen it, it’s new to you! On top of that the classics are usually quite a bit cheaper too! God bless and enjoy!

The Little Princess

I’m watching one of my favorite movies of all time, The Little Princess, starring Shirley Temple!

It showed on the Liberty Channel (channel 132), on Monday night at 1 AM!  But that’s no problem, because Sky Angel allows you to “rewind” up to two days, to see programs which showed while you were sleeping or at work (or both!).

“Rewind” is one of the best features of Sky Angel.
