Sky Angel WebTV - Brightening My Saturday!

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

I have posted about Sky Angel WebTV before. As a matter of fact, I have chosen to subscribe to both Sky Angel IPTV and Sky Angel WebTV. I’m having such a good time sampling programming this afternoon that I wanted to tell everyone why Sky Angel WebTV adds so much enjoyment to my days.

I have subscribed to Sky Angel IPTV since it started, plus years of Sky Angel service before the conversion to the IPTV platform. (There’s a whole lot more programming now!) I’ve discovered that the features of Sky Angel WebTV offer some new ways to enjoy the programming. I can very easily find and sample (or watch) programs — the 48 hours of available programming is displayed in a program guide on the right side of the screen. Selected programs load up quickly and I can easily slide ahead to a different point in a program. (That is especially helpful if I am watching a magazine-style program like 700 Club or 100 Huntley Street and know I want to watch only one particular segment.) Not every channel in the IPTV lineup is included in the WebTV programming. However, the WebTV offers the advantage that the 48-hour playback feature is available on every TV channel (including TV channels that are part of the IPTV family programming, where 48-hour playback is not a feature).

You can find a wide variety of programming on Sky Angel WebTV, including a children’s channel, contemporary and southern gospel music video channels, new movies, old movies, many, many classic TV shows (Ozzie and Harriet, I Spy, Bob Newhart, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, etc.). It’s easy to find the current Gaither Hour broadcast to watch when it’s convenient for you, and whatever your favorite Christian ministry, you can probably watch that on demand as well. Sky Angel WebTV also offers a variety of radio channels that are conveniently available in one spot so you can easily move around among them.

You can also access Sky Angel WebTV in a variety of ways. Watch it directly on your desktop computer, laptop, or netbook. I ran an HDMI cable from my netbook to my 46″ TV, which allows me to watch full-screen programming on the TV, using the great sound of the TV’s speakers. I can also watch the programming on my Kindle Fire tablet, which means I can take it with me to any location where I can access a wi-fi connection.

Doesn’t that sound like you’d be getting a LOT for $14.99 a month? There is no contract, so you pay only for months when you subscribe. Why not check it out for a month? Like I said, I’m havin’ a blast exploring all the programming today, hope y’all will check it out! (And no, I don’t work for Sky Angel!)

Sky Angel WebTV on my Kindle Fire - It Works!

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

I got a nice surprise this afternoon! A subscriber posted on Facebook that she was watching Sky Angel WebTV on her new Kindle Fire. I had tried unsuccessfully to do that, but after reading her post, I decided to try some troubleshooting. After changing some settings, I can now watch Sky Angel WebTV on my Kindle Fire (an Android device). The value of both my Kindle Fire and my Sky Angel WebTV subscription just went up - a lot! It’s like Christmas all over again, or maybe my b’day, which is tomorrow! I don’t know if Sky Angel WebTV is compatible with other mobile devices, but it might be worth checking it out!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving! I don’t have to think very long to come up with reasons to be thankful on this Thanksgiving holiday! Most of all, I am thankful for the LORD Himself - for His love, mercy, grace, power, provision, and faithfulness, and for the joy and peace I can know each day in His presence as I experience all of life’s joys and trials. I am especially thankful for the assurance that for those who know Him, the best is yet to come! I pray that assurance and all the blessings of His presence for each person who reads these words!

I Samuel 30:6 tells us that in the midst of a great trial (his men were in the mood to kill him!), David “encouraged [strengthened] himself in the Lord his God.” I am thankful that Sky Angel is there 24/7, offering me so many ways to encourage/strengthen myself in the Lord my God!!

Movie Review: Awake Oh Sleeper- VOD(Short Films -Whitestone)

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

I really enjoy Whitestone pictures. I’ve watched almost all of their offerrings and some more than once. This is a great short film about breaking bonds of slavery and a distinctive Christ focus. I love the beat to the song and the performance as well. In one word the presentation is, powerful. Check out all that Whitestone has to offer. If you have a good stereo system and like intense music, play this loud! God bless!Â

Have you heard the news?

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

I am very excited about the upcoming upgrades to Sky Angel IPTV and WebTV new features in early 2012. I currently have two Sky Angel Receivers the Series l and Series ll. We use the Series ll receiver in our living and Series l receiver in our bedroom. So we will be just fine for the upgrade since we watch our living room TV 95% of the time.

But it’s highly recommended if you only have the Series l to update your receiver to the Series ll as the Series l won’t be able to receive the upgrades because of memory and processing power to support the upgrades. Sky Angel will continue to support the Series l with the current level service and features for the foreseeable future at this time, but you won’t be able to enjoy all the new upgrades coming in 2012 with Series l receiver.

What are some of the 2012 upgrades?

Sky Angel will be upgrading its video delivery software. Not only will this new system upgrade deliver a more reliable, higher-quality viewer experience, but it will also provide many of the exciting features you’ve been asking for such as an interactive electronic program guide, personalized settings for time zones, HD capability, automatic screen adjustment and adaptive streaming to adjust picture quality based on the strength of your Internet service.

How will this transition affect your equipment?

For a limited time Sky Angel will sell a new Series II receiver at a discounted purchase price to current Sky Angel TV subscribers who are currently using the Series I receiver and have no outstanding balance on their account. Delivery could take up to 8 weeks or more depending on demand, the availability of the manufacturing process and international transportation delays. Shipping and activation fees may apply. Equipment and activation subject to availability. For complete details visit www.skyangel.com/upgrade.

Exciting news for Sky Angel WebTV Too!

Along with the Sky Angel IPTV upgrades the distribution of the Sky Angel WebTV service to mobile/connected device (i.e. smartphones, Roku, iPad, etc.) and TV sets that support Internet connectivity without a set top box. And Sky Angel WebTV is available World Wide!

Get ready for Sky Angel to change the world on how we watch TV one more time! Share the news! Its like waiting for a new present and I can’t wait to get it!

Explore Sky Angel Fridays - Oldie Goldie Channel (305)

Friday, October 28th, 2011

I am not much of a fan of classic black and white movies and TV shows. However, in the spirit of my commitment to “Explore Sky Angel Fridays,” I stopped on that channel today. It was showing a charming old Cary Grant movie. I laughed when his character, trying to sell himself to an adoption agency as a prospective father, said that he made $100 a week. Later, his wife chided him for inflating his income like that!

I recently gave two family members nostalgia candy boxes for their milestone birthdays. The gifts included a booklet describing life in the year of their birth. We have had a wonderful time sharing memories about the candies we liked back then and laughing about the prices in their respective eras. Checking out the Oldie Goldie channel today reminded me how much fun it can be to go back in time and remember life in “the old days.” I think I’ll be checking out this channel a little more often!

Sky Angel WebTV Features

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

I explained in an earlier blog post why I have chosen to subscribe to both Sky Angel IPTV and Sky Angel WebTV. The WebTV service offers the great advantage of a “portable” Sky Angel service. The IPTV service can also be portable, but the WebTV programming is instantly accessible on any computer, from any location - the ultimate in true portability. Additionally, on the WebTV service, the 48-hour playback of a program is available immediately.

I am learning that Sky Angel WebTV helps me take better advantage of the many program options. I can very quickly jump around from one program to another as I “try out” various programs and discover programming I have not watched before or make a decision about what I will watch at the moment. I can also move the slide to advance quickly through a program I am viewing. This is especially useful if I want to watch only one segment of a magazine-interview type of show like 100 Huntley Street. That show features monthly or weekly special guests like Andy Stanley or Priscilla Shirer. While I may not have time to watch the entire 60-minute broadcast each day, with the WebTV, I can very quickly move through the program to find the specific segment I want to watch.

I also use an HDMI cable to project the WebTV programming to my 46″ TV, which allows me to sit back and view a concert or movie on my living room TV (my IPTV box is in my computer room).

Yes, I can do most of these things with the IPTV service, but with the ability to jump around so quickly on Sky Angel WebTV, I see that I am more likely to take advantage of free moments throughout the day to “catch” good programs I might not take time to access on the IPTV box.

If you want to check it out, Sky Angel offers a 48-hour free tryout of the WebTV service at www.skyangel.com/webtvtrial. If you do that and decide not to continue, do be sure to cancel before the 48 hours is up.

Sky Angel IPTV. . . AND Sky Angel WebTV?

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

I made the decision a number of months ago to subscribe to BOTH the Sky Angel IPTV service (family values pak) and the Sky Angel WebTV service. I’ve had the IPTV service in my computer room since it began and thoroughly enjoy the wide selection of programming every day (with viewing options greatly expanded by the 48-hour playback feature). With the addition of an FM transmitter, I can send the audio of any Sky Angel program to every radio in my house, garage, or yard.

So why did I add the WebTV service? While I can send Sky Angel audio to every room of my house, adding the web TV service allows me to also enjoy the video on my second TV withoug purchasing another IPTV box. I can use my netbook computer with an HDMI cable to project the Sky Angel WebTV programming to my 46″ HD TV, or I can view the programming on the computer. Granted, the web service doesn’t include every channel the IPTV service does. It does, however, include the 48-hour playback feature, on-demand programming, and the great advantage of portability. I can watch Sky Angel WebTV programming in any room, and I can easily take it with me when I am away from home, or when I want to share a particular program with someone else.

That’s a whole lot of viewing/listening options for $39.98 a month, quite a bargain, in my opinion!
